Recap: Grafton Spoilers vs. Thompson Tommies
Even though the Thompson Tommies scored an imposing 69 points on Thursday, the Grafton Spoilers still came out on top. Grafton managed a 73-69 win over Thompson. Given Grafton's advantage in MaxPreps' North Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked fifth, while Thompson is ranked 36th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Thompson lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Drew Overby, who scored 19 points along with four steals. Overby is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Another player making a difference was Brayden Wolfgram, who scored 15 points along with seven assists.
Grafton's victory bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Thompson, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 8-8.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Grafton will challenge Shiloh Christian at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Thompson, they will head out on the road to take on South Border co-op [Wishek/Ashley] at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Hopefully Thompson focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Thursday.
