Baseball Game Preview: Sierra Vista Mountain Lions vs. Del Sol Dragons

Sierra Vista is a perfect 5-0 against Del Sol since May of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Saturday. The Mountain Lions will venture away from home to face off against the Dragons at 11:00 a.m. Sierra Vista will be strutting in after a win while Del Sol will be coming in after a defeat.

The home team had come away the winner the last five times Sierra Vista and Clark had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Mountain Lions put the hurt on the Chargers with a sharp 14-0 victory on Friday. The Mountain Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven contests by six runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Brady Skinner, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Sierra Vista: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 4-7 otherwise. Michael Alvarado was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Sierra Vista was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .424. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Clark only posted a batting average of .000.

Meanwhile, Del Sol fell victim to Bonanza and their airtight pitching crew on Wednesday. They lost 11-0 to the Bengals. The Dragons' loss continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Sierra Vista's win bumped their record up to 14-7. As for Del Sol, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-10.

Everything went Sierra Vista's way against Del Sol in their previous meeting on Saturday, as Sierra Vista made off with a 16-4 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mountain Lions since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
