Softball Recap: Greenwood Triumphs

While Greenwood's victory against Pecos wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. Greenwood skirted past Pecos 10-9. That's two games straight that the Rangers have won by just one run.

The team relied heavily on Lexi Stewart, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mae Savage, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 2-for-4.

Stewart wasn't the only one working in the hit department: Greenwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least ten hits in three consecutive games.

Greenwood's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 11-12-1. As for Pecos, they have been struggling recently as they've lost five of their last six matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 9-15 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Greenwood is set to take on their familiar foe Fort Stockton at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Pecos will square off against rival Seminole at 5:00 p.m. on Friday.
