Football Game Preview: Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski Lions vs. St. Thomas More Sabers

The Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski Lions are taking a road trip to challenge the St. Thomas More Sabers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski has given up an average of 34.4 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Illinois' top teams: Meridian, who was ranked 15th at the time (Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski was ranked 16th). The contest between the Lions and the Hawks didn't end well, with the Lions falling 34-20. Despite 140 more yards than the Hawks, the Lions couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.

Meanwhile, St. Thomas More played a tough game on Saturday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were dealt a 57-14 defeat at the hands of St. Anne. The Sabers haven't had much luck with the Cardinals recently, as the team has come up short the last three times they've met.

Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski's loss dropped their record down to 2-5. As for St. Thomas More, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-5.

Unity Christian/Mt. Pulaski took a serious blow against St. Thomas More in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, falling 52-6. That matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point the Lions were down 40-0.
