Football Game Preview: Delran Bears vs. Haddonfield Bulldawgs

The Delran Bears will face off against the Haddonfield Bulldawgs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Delran sitting on six straight victories and Haddonfield on five.

Delran is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They walked away with a 28-20 win over West Deptford.

Vinny Sacca continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 165 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 8.3 yards per carry, and also throwing for 153 yards and one TD. Those 165 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. 92 of Sacca's passing yards were hauled in by Justin Mary, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Delran was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 230 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 220 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Haddonfield strolled past Lower Cape May with points to spare on Friday, taking the game 28-13. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Bulldawgs' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' New Jersey football rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Tigers are ranked 89th).

Delran better keep an eye on Brody Leonard. He was instrumental in Haddonfield's win, rushing for 234 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while also picking up 39 receiving yards and one TD.

Delran's record now sits at 10-1. As for Haddonfield, their record is now 8-2.

Delran lost to Haddonfield on the road by a decisive 28-14 margin in their previous matchup back in October of 2021. Thankfully for the Bears, Carson Wolff (who threw for 147 yards and three touchdowns while completing 72.7% of his passes, and also rushed for 128 yards) won't be suiting up this time.
