Volleyball Recap: Cannon Snaps Four-Game Streak of Wins at Home

Cannon dropped to 2-5 on Friday, ending the team's four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season. They fell just short of the Covenant Day Lions by a score of 3-2. The Cougars were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in October of 2024.

As for Covenant Day, they have been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. The game was the first time they have beaten Cannon on their court since August 12, 2022.

Covenant Day can attribute much of their success to Maggie Shannon, who had 21 assists and eight digs. That's the most assists Shannon has posted since back in September of 2024.

Looking ahead, Cannon will venture away from home to face off against Forsyth Country Day at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. After both having extra time off, Covenant Day and St. Mary's will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 4:15 p.m. on Friday.
