Baseball Game Preview: Leigh Longhorns vs. Santa Cruz Cardinals

The Leigh Longhorns are taking a road trip to challenge the Santa Cruz Cardinals at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Leigh will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, Leigh was able to grind out a solid win over Willow Glen, taking the game 7-3.

Michael Mogannam was excellent, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Aiden Philips, who went 1-for-3 with one home run.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Santa Cruz). Everything went their way against Harbor on Friday as they made off with a 14-2 victory. The team's explosion at the plate also rewarded the Cardinals with their most commanding win of the season.

The win made it two in a row for Santa Cruz and bumps their season record up to 10-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.0 runs over those games. As for Leigh, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.

Leigh beat Santa Cruz 6-2 in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Longhorns since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
