Soccer Game Preview: Central vs. Northside

The Central Red Devils will head out to face off against the Northside Patriots at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Central's last three matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Central will bounce into Tuesday's game after beating Opelika, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. Central beat Opelika by a goal, winning 4-3. Given the Red Devils' advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama soccer rankings (they are ranked 38th, while the Bulldogs are ranked 143rd), the result on Thursday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Central hit Opelika with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Tyelon Davidson (2), Nathaniel Riepe, and Jan Bach.

Meanwhile, Northside came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 3.8 goals), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Lions with a sharp 5-1 victory. Considering the Patriots have won six matches by more than two goals this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Central's record is now 8-3-1. As for Northside, their record now sits at 7-1.
