Baseball Recap: Clark Montessori Has No Trouble Against Mt. Healthy

After low-scoring totals in their previous three matchup, Clark Montessori brought some dynamite into their most recent contest. Everything went their way against the Mt. Healthy Fighting Owls on Wednesday as they made off with a 12-1 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by eight runs or more this season.

Ethan Ernst made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over six innings pitched. He is becoming a predictor of Clark Montessori's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is undefeated (and 7-11 when he doesn't). Ernst was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-5 with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, Clark Montessori let Jaxon Wilkerson and Andrew Vollner run wild. Wilkerson went 1-for-3 with three RBI, one run, and one double, while Vollner went a perfect 1-for-1 with two stolen bases, two RBI, and one run. That's the most stolen bases Vollner has posted since back in April. The team also got some help courtesy of Cian Wright, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

Clark Montessori now has a winning record of 12-11. As for Mt. Healthy, they dropped their record down to 1-12 with the loss, which was their sixth straight at home.

Coming up, Clark Montessori will welcome Reading at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Blue Devils' pitching crew has only allowed four runs per game this season, so the Cougars' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Mt. Healthy, they will venture away from home to square off against Deer Park at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Fighting Owls are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a nine-game losing streak.
