Basketball Recap: Neosho Comes Up Short

Neosho was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They were outmatched by the Kickapoo Chiefs and fell 79-34. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Missouri basketball rankings (they are ranked 201st, while the Chiefs are ranked third).

Zach Forsythe and Kaiden Asberry certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Forsythe went 5 for 8 en route to 12 points and six boards, while Asberry posted 15 points. The dominant performance also gave Forsythe a new career-high in steals (two). Another player making a difference was Mason Spiva, who put up three points.

Neosho's loss dropped their record down to 7-10. As for Kickapoo, the victory (which was their 11th in a row) raised their record to 16-1.

Neosho will challenge Joplin at 6:00 p.m. on February 7th. As for Kickapoo, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Webb City at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Kickapoo's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last six matches.
