Basketball Recap: Hoggard Starts Season with Win at Home

Hoggard gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Tuesday. They breezed past the West Bladen Knights to the tune of 81-48. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as the Vikings just coasted through the last quarter.

Hoggard was led to victory by Hunter McGrath and Will Seward. McGrath made all 10 shots he took to post 27 points and four steals, while Seward shot 4-for-6 from downtown and almost dropped a double-double with 26 points and nine rebounds. Those 27 points gave McGrath a new career-high. Lukas Batchelor was another key player, putting up eight points and five boards.

Despite the loss, West Bladen still got an impressive performance from Jackson Pait, who posted 26 points. The game was Pait's third in a row with at least 20 points. Another player making a difference was Tylik McCall, who scored eight points.

Having lost for the first time this season, West Bladen fell to 2-1.

Looking ahead, Hoggard will take on Fayetteville Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for West Bladen, they will be playing at home against East Columbus at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
