Volleyball Recap: Mehlville Falls Short Against Ranked Fort Zumwalt West

Mehlville faced Fort Zumwalt West in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Panthers fell just short of the Jaguars by a score of 2-1. The Panthers were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Jaguars apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2021.

Carter Heitman paced Mehlville's offense, picking up 12 kills. Heitman got some help from Ryan Jarrett and his 21 assists. Landon Deroy controlled things from the service line, finishing with three aces.

This is the second loss in a row for Mehlville and nudges their season record down to 16-8. As for Fort Zumwalt West, their victory bumped their record up to 15-11.

Mehlville wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 2-0 win against Howell on the 26th. As for Fort Zumwalt West, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 2-0 defeat against Parkway Central on the 26th.
