Recap: Moffat Cowboys vs. Cotopaxi Pirates
Even though the Moffat Cowboys have not done well against the Cotopaxi Pirates recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Saturday. Moffat had just enough and edged Cotopaxi out 53-51. The win made it back-to-back wins for Moffat.
Moffat was led to victory by Noble Cole and Ziah Pesqueira. Cole dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Pesqueira scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 7 steals. Riley Heater was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals.
Cotopaxi's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Terrance Evans, who scored 16 points along with 5 blocks. Evans scored a full 31.4% of Cotopaxi's points, the second time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Zach Winkler, who scored 10 points.
Moffat's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Cotopaxi, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Moffat will take on Cripple Creek-Victor at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Cotopaxi, they have the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Antonito at 12:30 p.m. on December 8th. Antonito comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
