Basketball Recap: Tocoi Creek Snaps Nine-Game Streak of Wins on the Road

Tocoi Creek suffered their closest defeat since November 28, 2023 on Thursday. They fell just short of the Creekside Knights by a score of 59-56. The Toros haven't had much luck with the Knights recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Creekside got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Nolan Nelson out in front who went 6 of 9 on his way to 14 points and seven boards. Derek Rivers was another key player, going 6 for 13 en route to 15 points and three steals.

Tocoi Creek's loss ended a nine-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 18-3. As for Creekside, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 14-7.

Tocoi Creek and Creekside should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings. Tocoi Creek will challenge St. Joseph Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday up 270 places (45 vs. 315). Tocoi Creek is looking to tack on another W to their nine-game streak on the road dating back to last season. Meanwhile, Creekside (ranked 55th) will meet Potter's House Christian Blue (ranked 595th) at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
