Soccer Game Preview: Brandon vs. Ocean Springs

The Brandon Bulldogs and the Ocean Springs Greyhounds will meet in a dog eat dog contest on Saturday. Brandon is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 5.3 goals per game this season.

Brandon is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Monday. They walked away with a 3-1 victory over Biloxi. Given the Bulldogs' advantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi soccer rankings (they are ranked second, while the Indians are ranked 26th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Brandon hit Biloxi with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Sydney Garner, Olivia Wilkins, and Avery Rogers.

Meanwhile, Ocean Springs entered their tilt with Petal on Tuesday with five consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with six. They came out on top against the Panthers by a score of 4-2. Four seems to be a good number for the Greyhounds as the team scooped up a win with the same number of goals in their previous game.

Ocean Springs has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 11 of their last 12 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-3 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 51 goals over those 12 contests. As for Brandon, their victory bumped their record up to 19-2-2.

Everything went Brandon's way against Ocean Springs in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as Brandon made off with a 6-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Brandon since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
