Volleyball Recap: Hilltop Picks Up Third Consecutive Win

Hilltop barely beat North Central the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Cadets blew past the Eagles 3-0 on Wednesday. Winning may never get old, but the Cadets sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

While Hilltop won a shutout, things came down to the wire in the third set they played. The match finished with set scores of 25-13, 25-12, 26-24.

Brynn Rodriguez paced Hilltop's offense, picking up 21 kills. Rodriguez got some help from Hayden JoHantgen and her 21 assists. Rodriguez was also solid from the service line: she led the team with five aces.

Despite the loss, North Central saw an underclassman step up: freshman Maycee Walker had 25 digs and two aces. Walker has been hot for a while, having posted 13 or more digs the last 13 times she's played.

Hilltop's win bumped their record up to 17-6. As for North Central, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 10-12 record this season.

Hilltop will square off against Pettisville at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. North Central does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
