Basketball Recap: Butler Skates Past Providence with Ease

A well-balanced attack led Butler over Providence in every quarter on their way to victory on Friday. Given that consistent dominance, it should come as no surprise that the Butler Bulldogs blew the Providence Panthers out of the water with a 71-30 final score. Fans of the Bulldogs have seen this all before: every one of the games they've played this season has ended in a blowout of 20+ points.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Butler to victory, but perhaps none more so than Brooklyn Saunders, who went 6 for 10 from beyond the arc on her way to 25 points in addition to five boards and four steals. The match was Saunders' third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hannah Moss, who almost dropped a double-double on 20 points and nine boards.

Butler smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 15 offensive boards in three consecutive contests.

Butler's victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-0. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 73.4 points per game. As for Providence, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.

Butler wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 56-48 defeat against A.C. Flora on the 21st. Providence and Huss will round out the year against one another at at 12:00 p.m. on Friday. Huss will roll in looking for their fifth straight win, something Providence surely won't give up without a fight.
