Recap: Evans Knights vs. Glynn Academy Terrors
The Evans Knights's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their ninth straight loss. They suffered a tough 52-27 defeat at the hands of Glynn Academy. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Evans in their matchups with Glynn Academy: they've now lost five in a row.
Kayla Bennett was Evans' leading scorer, having posted seven points.
Briyanna Jones held things down on the boards with 13 rebounds. She took the lead distributing the ball, coming up with two assists.
Glynn Academy found their leader in underclassman Martin Davis, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and seven steals. Davis hasn't dropped below two steals for nine straight games. Another player making a difference was Mar'kuecia Burton, who scored six points along with five assists and five steals.
Evans has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost 11 of their last 12 contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-16 record this season. As for Glynn Academy, their victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-9.
Evans will head out on the road to square off against Brunswick at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Brunswick presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Evans in Georgia (Brunswick is ranked 118th, while Evans is ranked 467th). As for Glynn Academy, they will play host again and welcome Lakeside, where tip off is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
