Basketball Game Preview: Dougherty Valley Wildcats vs. Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles

The Dougherty Valley Wildcats will challenge the Clayton Valley Charter Ugly Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Dougherty Valley is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They took down Ygnacio Valley 79-61. Given the Wildcats' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 34th, while the Wolves are ranked 101st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Clayton Valley Charter waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They put the hurt on the Hornets with a sharp 58-37 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest win the Ugly Eagles have posted since January 22nd.

Clayton Valley Charter pushed their record up to 20-11 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points over those games. As for Dougherty Valley, they have been performing well recently as they've won 11 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 22-8 record this season.

Dougherty Valley came up short against Clayton Valley Charter in their previous matchup back in February of 2022, falling 76-71. Can Dougherty Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
