Softball Recap: Lake Region Extends Home Winning Streak to Five

There's no place like home for Lake Region, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Fort Meade Miners on Monday. Considering the Thunder have won seven games by more than nine runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Makenna Meadows was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 15 batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kirsten Aldridge, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-3. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2024.

Lake Region pushed their record up to 12-2 with the victory, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Fort Meade, their loss dropped their record down to 10-5.

Looking ahead, Lake Region will head out on the road to take on Winter Haven at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fort Meade, they will look to defend their home field on Tuesday against George Jenkins at 7:30 p.m. Fort Meade's pitchers better be ready for this one: George Jenkins has averaged an impressive 6.6 runs per game this season.
