Basketball Game Preview: Stillwater Warriors vs. Mechanicville Red Raiders

Stillwater hasn't had much luck against Mechanicville recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Stillwater Warriors will venture away from home to challenge the Mechanicville Red Raiders at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Mechanicville will be up against a hot Stillwater team: the squad just extended their winning streak to eight. Stillwater breezed by Cambridge to the tune of 60-22 on Thursday. Given the Warriors' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 43rd, while the N/A are ranked 275th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Mechanicville, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They claimed a resounding 55-24 win over Waterford-Halfmoon.

Stillwater's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-1. Those victories came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 26.8 points per game. As for Mechanicville, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Stillwater against Mechanicville when the teams last played on Monday, as the squad secured a 67-30 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Stillwater since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
