Basketball Recap: North Summit Extends Winning Streak to Nine

North Summit entered their tilt with North Sevier on Tuesday with eight consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with nine. They blew past the North Sevier Wolves 64-14. The Braves have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 20 points or more this season.

North Summit got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Hartlynn Richins out in front who went 8 for 16 on her way to 19 points along with eight steals and seven assists. Richins has been hot for a while, having posted two or more steals the last 28 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Ellie Stephens, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 12 rebounds.

North Summit smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 14 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in 15 consecutive matches.

North Summit's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 14-1. The wins came thanks to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 27.7 points per game. As for North Sevier, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. North Summit will welcome Gunnison Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in North Summit's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four games. As for North Sevier, they will challenge Duchesne at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Duchesne will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something North Sevier surely won't give up without a fight.
