Surry County is a perfect 3-0 against West Point since March of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Monday. The Cougars will square off against the Pointers at 5:00 p.m. Surry County is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.2 runs per game this season.

Surry County came out on top against Greensville County last Thursday thanks in part to the team's impressive seven-run seventh inning. The Cougars blew past the Eagles 14-1. The Cougars haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive win against them.

Dalton Pierce and Tanner Keckler made a splash no matter where they played. On the mound, Pierce struck out nine batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Keckler pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two hits any time he's pitched this season. In other batting news, Jeremiah Lightfoot was incredible, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three stolen bases gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Mathew Johnson, who got on base in two of his four plate appearances with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Surry County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .564. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, West Point was not able to break out of their rough patch on Thursday as the team picked up their ninth straight loss dating back to last season. They lost 10-0 to King William. The game marked the first time this year in which the Pointers were not able to get on the board.
