Softball Recap: Doniphan West Comes Up Short

After flying high against Onaga on Monday, Doniphan West came back down to earth. Doniphan West fell just short of Onaga by a score of 5-3 on Monday. The Mustangs were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Buffaloes earlier this season, when they won 9-1.

Clara Feighner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and two unearned) runs on 11 hits and racked up six Ks.

On the hitting side, Brennah Edie made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, two RBI, and one double.

Doniphan West's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Onaga, their win bumped their record up to 4-2.

Coming up, Doniphan West is packing up and heading out on the road for their first away game of the season: they will take on Troy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Troy has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.17 runs per game on average), something Doniphan West will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Onaga, they will take on Blue Valley at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
