Recap: Chavez Lobos vs. Bellaire Cardinals
The Chavez Lobos lost against the Bellaire Cardinals back in February of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Chavez was outmatched by Bellaire at home and fell 79-19. Chavez was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 50-12.
Bellaire's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Tyniah Smith, who scored 19 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. The matchup was Smith's eighth in a row with at least ten points. Sarah Gregory was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with seven assists and seven steals.
This is the second loss in a row for Chavez and nudges their season record down to 4-13-1. As for Bellaire, their victory was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-10.
Chavez will square off against Heights at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Heights has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. As for Bellaire, they will be playing at home against Lamar at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Lamar will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
