Basketball Recap: Southeast of Saline Takes Loss Despite Strong Performances from Owen Bailey and Gannon Jacobson

Southeast of Saline was the 60-35 winner over Clay Center when they last played one another back in January of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Southeast of Saline Trojans fell 72-63 to the Clay Center Tigers on Friday.

Southeast of Saline's loss came despite strong showings from Gannon Jacobson and Owen Bailey. Jacobson went 13 of 19 en route to 28 points along with five rebounds and three steals, while Bailey went 8 for 18 on his way to 21 points and six boards. Another player making a difference was Tiernan Ptacek, who posted seven points.

Southeast of Saline's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Clay Center, their win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2.

Southeast of Saline will face off against Hugoton at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Southeast of Saline is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 56.4 points per game this season. As for Clay Center, they will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Concordia on January 31st.
