Football Recap: Armstrong (Kennedy) Piles Up the Points Against Hertford County

Armstrong (Kennedy) never let their opponents score on Friday. They breezed past the Hertford County Bears to the tune of 52-0. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Wildcats' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' football rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 83rd in Virginia, while the Bears are ranked 214th in North Carolina).

Armstrong (Kennedy) found their leader in sophomore Shadarus Pickett, who rushed for 175 yards and four TDs on only nine carries. Pickett's longest rush was for an incredible 86 yards. Anthony Hansom was another key player, throwing for 129 yards and three touchdowns.

Armstrong (Kennedy) was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 251 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in October of 2024.

The victory (which was Armstrong (Kennedy)'s third in a row) raised their record to 3-0. Those wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 4.7 points on average this season. As for Hertford County, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-2.

Armstrong (Kennedy) wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next game, a 35-7 victory against Goochland on the 19th. As for Hertford County, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 34-0 win against Roanoke Rapids on the 19th.
