Softball Recap: Solon Comes Up Short

Solon suffered their closest loss since June 18, 2025 on Monday. They fell just short of the Independence Mustangs by a score of 6-4. The Spartans were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Mustangs earlier this season, when they won 7-2.

Solon has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-3 record this season. Independence's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Solon will take on Vinton-Shellsburg at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Independence, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Mt. Vernon at 5:00 p.m.
