Abingdon/Avon waltzed into their match on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. Their defense stepped up to hand the Hoopeston Cornjerkers a 5-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for Abingdon/Avon, who have now won three games by four goals or more so far this season.

They hit Hoopeston with a four-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Caden Rogers (2), Tucker Kauffmann, Kolbe Hightower, and Liam Walters.

Abingdon/Avon's win bumped their record up to 6-3-1. As for Hoopeston, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Coincidentally, Abingdon/Avon and Hoopeston will both be playing Monticello the next time they take the pitch. The Cornjerkers will host the Sages at 9:00 a.m. on Saturday, while the Tornadoes will play them later in the day, at 10:45 a.m.
