Soccer Game Preview: St. Patrick vs. Southeast Lauderdale

The St. Patrick Fighting Irish will square off against the Southeast Lauderdale Tigers at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Neither squad made it on the board the last time they hit the pitch, so they've probably got a bit of extra motivation.

St. Patrick is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Mississippi's top teams: St. Stanislaus, who was ranked third at the time (St. Patrick was ranked tenth). St. Patrick fell just short of St. Stanislaus by a score of 2-1 on Wednesday. The Fighting Irish's loss signaled the end of their six-game winning streak.

Their goal came courtesy of Michael Baty, who's now up to 28 this season.

Meanwhile, Southeast Lauderdale entered their tilt with Enterprise back in January with four consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with five. While the 1-1 score might suggest a draw, it was Southeast Lauderdale who was credited with the victory. Southeast Lauderdale got it done in the shootout by posting five goals to Enterprise's four.

Southeast Lauderdale has been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a massive bump to their 8-6 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 49 goals over those ten matches. As for St. Patrick, their defeat ended a six-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 17-4-1.

St. Patrick skirted past Southeast Lauderdale 2-1 in their previous matchup back in February of 2016. Does St. Patrick have another victory up their sleeve, or will Southeast Lauderdale turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
