Volleyball Game Preview: Newark Catholic Green Wave vs. Tree of Life Christian Trojans

The Newark Catholic Green Wave will take on the Tree of Life Christian Trojans at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Newark Catholic will come into the match with an undefeated record on the line.

Newark Catholic picked up another tournament win on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 3-0 margin over West Jefferson.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Newark Catholic was: they took every set by at least 14 points. The final score came out to 25-11, 25-11, 25-9.

Newark Catholic's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Christiana Scarsella, who had nine digs and two aces. That's the most aces Scarsella has posted since back in September. Jahni Whitney also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

They weren't the only good servers: Newark Catholic was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 11 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least five aces in 12 consecutive contests.

Meanwhile, two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Tree of Life Christian walked away with it. They won by a set and slipped past the Comets 3-2.

Newark Catholic's record is now 22-0. As for Tree of Life Christian, their record now sits at 17-8.
