Preview: Leroy Bears vs. Southern Choctaw Indians
The Leroy Bears just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Southern Choctaw Indians at 6:00 p.m. on December 12th. Both teams come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Monday, Leroy got the win against Excel by a conclusive 38-16. The victory was just what Leroy needed coming off of a 76-42 defeat in their prior contest.
Leroy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Chauncey Dixon, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 13 rebounds. Makayla Payne was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with five rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Southern Choctaw waltzed into Friday's matchup with three straight wins but they left with four. They took down Choctaw County 67-52. Southern Choctaw's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Marcionna Young continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. The match was Young's fourth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Keri Mcgee, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Leroy now has a winning record of 2-1. As for Southern Choctaw, their win bumped their record up to 4-1.
Leroy came out on top in a nail-biter against Southern Choctaw in their previous meeting back in December of 2021, sneaking past 61-58. Will Leroy repeat their success, or does Southern Choctaw have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
