Softball Game Preview: Nichols Vikings vs. Sacred Heart Academy Sharks

Nichols is 1-9 against Sacred Heart Academy since May of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Vikings will look to defend their home field against the Sharks at 3:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Nichols has three straight victories, Sacred Heart Academy has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

Nichols barely beat Mount St. Mary Academy the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Vikings blew past the Thunder 10-4 on Monday.

The team relied heavily on Gabrielle Chebat, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. Those three hits gave her a new career-high. Ellery Jaworowicz was another key player, earning two RBI, one run, and one stolen base.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Sacred Heart Academy and St. Mary's had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Sharks came up short against the Lancers on Monday, falling 16-1.

Sacred Heart Academy saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Evelyn Smyers, who went 1-for-3 with one RBI.

Sacred Heart Academy's loss dropped their record down to 3-6. As for Nichols, their win bumped their record up to 6-2.

Nichols couldn't quite get it done against Sacred Heart Academy when the teams last played back in May of 2024 as they fell 7-2. Can the Vikings avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
