Softball Game Preview: Central Red Devils vs. Beauregard Hornets

The Central Red Devils will take on the Beauregard Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Central will be looking to extend their current 22-game winning streak.

Central picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They put the hurt on Vestavia Hills with a sharp 9-1 victory. The Red Devils might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 26 contests by six runs or more this season.

Allyson Supan made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mariah Harrison, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. She has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Gerritt Griggs, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .429. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .350 or higher in ten consecutive matchups.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Beauregard's offense. They fell just short of Auburn by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday.

Beauregard's loss dropped their record down to 24-11. As for Central, their win bumped their record up to 39-3.

Central took their victory against Beauregard in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Red Devils repeat their success, or do the Hornets have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
