Softball Recap: Monroe Central Comes Up Short

Monroe Central lost to Martins Ferry back in April and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Seminoles took a 12-8 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Purple Riders.

Kamryn Winland made the most of her time in the batter's box despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with two triples, three runs, and one stolen base. Those triples marked the first that she has hit this season. Another player making a difference was Kennadi Jorris, who went 3-for-4 with three RBI, one run, and one double.

Monroe Central's defeat dropped their record down to 17-5. As for Martins Ferry, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 20-3.

Monroe Central and Martins Ferry should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Seminoles (ranked 163rd) will meet Frontier (ranked 501st) at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Martins Ferry will challenge Buckeye Local at 5:00 p.m. on Monday with a big rank advantage (83 vs. 327).
