Softball Recap: Norristown Eagles vs. Pope John Paul II
Norristown had lost three straight at home, but on Monday they dropped their record down to 6-6 to make it four. They came up short against Pope John Paul II, falling 15-4. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Pope John Paul II this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-4 back in March.
As for Pope John Paul II, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 10-6. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five games by ten runs or more this season.
For Pope John Paul II's part, they got a great performance from Lexi DiBricida as she struck out eight batters over six innings while giving up four earned runs off four hits. That's the most strikeouts DiBricida has posted since back in March.
At the plate, Rylee Derecola was a standout: she got on base in all five of her plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. What's more, she posted three hits, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Grace Fitzgerald was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three doubles, four RBI, and one run.
