Softball Recap: Oak Hill Oaks vs. Eastern Eagles

Oak Hill extended their losing streak to five on Friday, dropping their season record down to 2-14 in the process. They came up short against the Eastern Eagles, falling 26-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 on Wednesday.

Oak Hill saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Brynlee Stickley, who got on base in all three of her plate appearances with one run.

As for Eastern, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 13-8. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won ten games by ten runs or more so far this season.

On Eastern's side, Leah Rader made a big impact no matter where she played. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out six over four innings pitched. Rader has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in five consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.

In other batting news, Eastern got a massive performance out of Lynnleigh McCollister, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with five RBI, three runs, and one double. Those five hits gave McCollister a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Libby Poorman, who went 4-for-5 with four runs, three RBI, and one double.

Looking ahead, Oak Hill will be taking part in a tournament against Piketon at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Redstreaks will roll in looking for their sixth straight win, something the Oaks surely won't give up without a fight. As for Eastern, they will take on Peebles in a tournament on Monday.
