Tonkawa is 8-2 against Blackwell since April of 2016 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Buccaneers will face off against the Maroons at 5:00 p.m. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Tonkawa has three straight victories, Blackwell has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Thursday, Tonkawa narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past Frontier 16-14.

Tonkawa got a massive performance out of Westyn Freeman, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with three doubles, three RBI, and one stolen base. That's the most RBI Freeman has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Brett Shepherd, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Blackwell's offense. They lost 10-0 to Crossings Christian on Wednesday. While getting shut out isn't ideal, the Maroons haven't been shut out since back in March.

Tonkawa pushed their record up to 16-7 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.3 runs over those games. As for Blackwell, their loss dropped their record down to 4-16.

Tonkawa skirted past Blackwell 11-9 in their previous meeting back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
