Softball Game Preview: Seton Saints vs. Oak Hills Highlanders

The Seton Saints will head out to square off against the Oak Hills Highlanders at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.

Seton's last matchup with Ross could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's game last Monday. The Saints lost 10-0 to the Rams. The shutout was out of character for the Saints seeing as the last time the team failed to score was back in March.

Meanwhile, Oak Hills came tearing into Monday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They blew past the Indians 9-3. Considering the Highlanders have won 11 contests by more than five runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.

Annaliese Szabo spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Oak Hills got a massive performance out of Zoe Schaible, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with four stolen bases and three runs. Those four stolen bases gave Schaible a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Emily Lacock, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.

Oak Hills hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fairfield struck out 12 times.

Oak Hills' record is now 19-5. As for Seton, their loss dropped their record down to 8-16.

Seton might still be hurting after the 9-0 defeat they got from Oak Hills when the teams last played back in May of 2025. Can the Saints avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
