Basketball Game Preview: Squalicum Storm vs. Oak Harbor Wildcats

Having just played yesterday, the Squalicum Storm will head out on the road to face off against the Oak Harbor Wildcats at 7:15 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Squalicum is headed into the contest having just suffered their closest defeat since December 17, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Sehome by a score of 37-34. The Storm have struggled against the Mariners recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Oak Harbor was not able to break out of their rough patch on Monday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They had to suffer through a 62-27 loss at the hands of Nooksack Valley. While losing is never fun, the Wildcats can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 263rd, while the Pioneers are ranked 65th).

Squalicum's defeat dropped their record down to 10-8. As for Oak Harbor, their loss dropped their record down to 4-15.

Squalicum beat Oak Harbor 51-42 when the teams last played back in January of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for Squalicum since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
