Foresthill hadn't done well against Encina recently (they were 2-7 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Tuesday. The Wildfires had just enough and edged out the Bulldogs 3-2. The victory continues a trend for the Wildfires in their matchups with the Bulldogs: they've now won three in a row.

The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Foresthill who won the one that mattered. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-12, 20-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-11.

Several Bulldogs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Stephanie Hernandez Aguilar, who had 14 digs. Another player making a difference was Diana Khalvati, who had 14 digs.

Foresthill's record is now 9-3. As for Encina, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-13 record this season.

Foresthill will take on Sacramento Waldorf at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Encina, they will challenge Chesterton Academy of Sacramento at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
