The Fairfield Eagles will head out on the road to challenge the Elkhart Elks at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Elkhart will be up against a hot Fairfield squad: the team just extended their winning streak to ten. Everything went the Eagles' way against Buffalo on Tuesday as they made off with a 12-2 win.
Haylee Allen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one home run, four runs, and two RBI.

In other batting news, Evelyn Fultz was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one stolen base. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Riley Philpott, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Fairfield hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive games.
Elkhart came out on top against Mexia on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive 15-run first inning. The Elks were the clear victors by a 21-2 margin over the Black Cats. The Elks haven't had any issues with the Black Cats recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive victory against them.
Like Fairfield, Elkhart also got a great game from a two-way player: Rylee Lohmeyer. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Lohmeyer was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with four runs, four RBI, and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ella Lively, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and one triple. Clark Lanie was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs and one RBI.
Fairfield's record now sits at 15-6-1. As for Elkhart, their record is now 19-5.
Friday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Fairfield hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .347. However, it's not like Elkhart struggles in that department as they've averaged .383. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went Fairfield's way against Elkhart when the teams last played back in March, as Fairfield made off with a 9-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
