Basketball Recap: Coolidge Comes Up Short

Coolidge has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by the Valley Christian Trojans 90-36 on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Bears can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Arizona basketball rankings (they are ranked 91st, while the Trojans are ranked 11th).

Valley Christian's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Colby Jessup, who went 7 of 12 from beyond the arc en route to 29 points. Jessup's evening made it 16 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Grier, who went 7 for 9 on his way to 17 points along with eight boards and three blocks.

Coolidge's loss dropped their record down to 19-7. As for Valley Christian, the victory was the 11th in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-3.

Coolidge has already played their next matchup, a 51-31 win against Apache Junction on the 29th. As for Valley Christian, they will take on Seton Catholic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Valley Christian's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.
