Elkhart Christian Academy fought the good fight in their overtime contest against Wawasee on Tuesday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They took a 65-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Warriors. Elkhart Christian Academy has not had much luck with Wawasee recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Elkhart Christian Academy's loss came about despite a quality game from Aiden Hibbard, who shot 5-for-11 from long range and almost dropped a triple-double on 27 points, ten rebounds, and nine assists. That was a full 44.3% of Elkhart Christian Academy's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of LJ Bevier, who scored eight points along with six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Elkhart Christian Academy were working as a unit and finished the game with 19 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.
In what's become a running theme this season, Fairfield gave their fans yet another huge victory on Tuesday. They blew past Bethany Christian 55-27 at home. Given Fairfield's advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 96th, while Bethany Christian is ranked 274th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Elkhart Christian Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 10-7. As for Fairfield, they pushed their record up to 14-4 with that win, which was their eighth straight at home.
Elkhart Christian Academy came up short against Fairfield when the teams last played back in February of 2023, falling 58-50. Can Elkhart Christian Academy avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
