Basketball Recap: Menomonie Takes a Loss

Menomonie was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They took a 72-61 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rice Lake Warriors. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (60), the Mustangs still had to take the loss.

Adaline Sheplee continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Rice Lake, going 13 of 24 on her way to 37 points along with eight boards and six steals. That makes it six consecutive games in which Sheplee has scored at least a third of Rice Lake's points. Addison Schmidt was another key player, dropping a double-double on 16 points and 14 rebounds.

Menomonie's loss dropped their record down to 9-9. As for Rice Lake, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-2.

Menomonie and Rice Lake should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Wisconsin Rankings. Menomonie will challenge Somerset at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday up 128 places (92 vs. 220). Meanwhile, Rice Lake (ranked 29th) will meet Eau Claire North (ranked 160th) at 7:15 p.m. on Friday.
