Football Recap: Cohen Felber's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Hilmar over Escalon + How To Watch

After soaring to 35 points the game before, Hilmar was a bit more limited in their matchup on Friday. They received a blow as they fell 27-9 to the Escalon Cougars. The defeat continues a trend for the Yellowjackets in their meetings with the Cougars: they've now lost four in a row.

Hilmar's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Cohen Felber, who rushed for 67 yards, and also threw for 85 yards and one touchdown. The Yellowjackets also got a significant boost from Adam Branco, who ran away from the competition to the tune of 84 yards.

Logan Huebner produced another solid effort throwing for 196 yards and a pair of TDs on only 13 passes, while also rushing for 67 yards and one score for Escalon. What's more, Huebner racked up 138.6 passer rating, the most he's had since back in September of 2024. Dylan Ball was another key player, rushing for 67 yards on only seven carries.

Hilmar's defeat dropped their record down to 4-2. As for Escalon, the victory got them back to even at 3-3.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Hilmar will welcome Sonora at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Yellowjackets will need to watch out since the Wildcats have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Escalon, they will host Hughson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
