Baseball Game Preview: Graham Steers vs. Castleberry Lions

Graham is a perfect 3-0 against Castleberry since March of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Steers will face off against the Lions. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.

Graham is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Thursday. They never let Liberty get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory.

Meanwhile, Castleberry got the win against Diamond Hill-Jarvis on Friday by a conclusive 12-5. The Lions might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine contests by six runs or more this season.

Samuel Williams and Eric Medina did most of the damage at the plate: Williams got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and one RBI, while Medina went 4-for-5 with three RBI, one run, and one double. Those four runs gave Williams a new career-high. Adrian Pina was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two runs and two RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Castleberry kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Diamond Hill-Jarvis only managed four hits.

Graham is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Castleberry, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 19-8-1.

Graham was able to grind out a solid win over Castleberry in their previous matchup back in March of 2016, winning 7-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Steers since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
