Basketball Game Preview: Mora Mustangs vs. Pine City Dragons

The Mora Mustangs will take on the Pine City Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Mora knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past 20 contests -- so hopefully Pine City likes a good challenge.

Last Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Mora beat Legacy Christian Academy 86-82. Given the Mustangs' advantage in MaxPreps' Minnesota basketball rankings (they are ranked 84th, while the Lions are ranked 206th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Pine City strolled past North Branch with points to spare on Monday, taking the game 68-51.

Mora's win was their 12th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 19-1. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 89.3 points over those games. As for Pine City, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 8-13 record this season.

Everything came up roses for Mora against Pine City in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, as the squad secured a 77-48 victory. Will Mora repeat their success, or does Pine City have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
