Volleyball Recap: Chapel Hill Bulldogs vs. Gilmer Buckeyes
Chapel Hill was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They fell 3-1 to the Gilmer Buckeyes. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Buckeyes this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.
Chapel Hill was was forced to take the loss, but they sure made Gilmer work for it, especially in the first set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 27-25, 25-19, 21-25, 25-20.
Gilmer can attribute much of their success to Mallory Clark, who had five aces and three digs. What's more, Clark racked up 19 assists, the most she's had over her last six matchups.
Chapel Hill's loss dropped their record down to 5-23. As for Gilmer, their win ended a three-match drought on the road and puts them at 15-15.
We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Chapel Hill is set to challenge their familiar foe Carthage at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Gilmer will square off against rival Pine Tree at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
