League recap: Tivinis breaks off league-leading run for Masconomet Regional

Cape Ann/Northeastern - Division 1 recap Sept. 26, 2012

Masconomet Regional's Mike Tivinis recorded the longest rushing play in Cape Ann/Northeastern - Division 1 this season in his game against Wilmington last week. Tivinis scampered for 67 yards on the play and finished with 130 on the day as his team bested the Wildcats.

Lynn Classical moved up to 65 from 110 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. A 28-6 win over Malden helped the Rams improve their standing.

Masconomet Regional's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chris Schleer threw for 33 and one touchdown and Dylan Mann had 20 yards receiving. Corey Tines helped Masconomet Regional's passing attack out by catching two balls for 11 yards.

Masconomet Regional's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Chieftains feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Schleer has thrown for 124 yards and one touchdown this season, while Troy Bunker has five catches for 85 yards. Mann leads the league in rushing with 202 yards.

James Pugh's team was the team that gained the most ground in the standings this week, jumping from fifth to second in Cape Ann/Northeastern - Division 1. The Chieftains beat Wilmington 22-13 earlier in the week.
